The results of the annual Packt Publishing CMS awards are out, and finally Drupal has got a winning place!
After three intense months of voting, Packt Publishing can today announce that Drupal has won the Overall 2007 Open Source CMS Award. With 18,000 votes on Packt’s website, coupled with the expert opinions from a panel of judges, Drupal succeeds Joomla! as the overall winner and receives a cheque for $5,000.
This is truly good news for the Drupal community; it means lots of press coverage, interest in the project, and more new users and developers – all leading to improvements in the system as a whole. Good stuff!
Edit: I just remembered (rather late in the day; I was reminded by the first of many “predictions for 2008” threads) that earlier this year, I predicted this would happen, which means I get extra smug points!
