Google Checkout stays free for longer

Google today announced that they will be extending the grace period of their Checkout program, which was launched last year as a direct competitor to Paypal. TechCrunch
has more details.

This is good news for commerce site owners as it means they can benefit from fee-free transaction processing via Google (if they link their AdWords account to Checkout). It does however perhaps indicate that Checkout is perhaps not hitting the adoption rate that was expected of it. Reasons for this? Paypal is massive, and links in to eBay directly. Figures indicate that Checkout is gaining some ground on Paypal in this respect though.
